Michigan enforces workplace first aid through MIOSHA General Industry Part 472 (Medical Services and First Aid), which mirrors 29 CFR 1910.151(b): there is no fixed first-aider-to-worker ratio, but where no clinic or hospital is in near proximity the employer must ensure adequately trained persons and readily available supplies.

Michigan childcare licensing (Michigan Administrative Code R 400.8131(7)-(8)), overseen by MiLEAP's Child Care Licensing Bureau, requires all program directors, lead caregivers and at least one caregiver on duty to hold current first aid and CPR training with a hands-on skills component, within 90 days of hire.

Michigan's Good Samaritan immunity (MCL §§ 691.1501–691.1507) shields licensed health professionals rendering emergency care in good faith without compensation (§ 691.1501) and any individual with no duty who voluntarily renders CPR or AED use (§ 691.1504) from civil liability, except for gross negligence or willful and wanton misconduct.

Nurses in Michigan are licensed by the Michigan Board of Nursing (within LARA), which requires 25 contact hours every two years from approved providers, so an approved CPR, ACLS or PALS course awarding contact hours can contribute to CE.

Under Michigan homes-for-the-aged rules, direct care staff must be competent in first aid and CPR before performing assigned tasks, and a recognized, up-to-date certificate demonstrates this competency in addition to occupational training.

Under Michigan's foster family home licensing rules (R 400.9416), at least one adult in the household must hold and maintain current first aid and CPR certification from a recognized organization, administered through MDHHS and licensed child placing agencies, with at least six hours of training per year.

Online CPR and first aid training is recognized in Michigan, with MIOSHA and federal OSHA accepting blended training (online coursework plus an in-person hands-on skills demonstration) for workplace requirements; certification is valid for two years.
